The aim of the project is to inform kids about the sphere of information technology, make an introduction to programming and unleash their potential in this area. All this will help the kids to make an informed decision on their future education and profession. “IT Pupil” has successfully operated for three years in SoftServe development center in Ivano-Frankivsk, now the geography of the project has been expanded to Lviv.
“The course started with an excursion to SoftServe headquarters, where they got acquainted with employees, found out how the IT company works, what products and solutions creates. The course lasts for 2 months with 2-3 classes per week with the participation of volunteers who conduct these lessons for children – says Oksana Kostiv, project coordinator, SoftServe employee. – The curriculum includes the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, Java Script and software testing. In addition, our volunteers develop kids’ soft skills – effective time management, project presentation and teamwork. Having completed the first month of the course the kids took a break for summer but they are sure to get back to the training at the beginning of fall. The most successful children will get an opportunity to study English at one of language schools as well a certificate of SoftServe IT Academy indicating the level of acquired knowledge”.
