This year all Ukrainian offices in Lviv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi joined this volunteer initiative. As a result, 72 employees of the company became blood donors. 28 liters of blood will help to save dozens of lives. In Lviv, 11 liters of blood was transferred to the regional children’s clinical hospital “Ohmatdyt”, in Kiev to the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, and in other cities – to the regional blood transfusion stations.
“I believe that becoming a blood donor is one of the easiest ways to help people who need it. Especially in Ukraine, where blood donation is not that common. This can really save someone’s life and if the company organizes such initiatives, I join readily,” says Khrystyna Bortnyk, a SoftServe employee who became a blood donor for the second consecutive year.
“The donor day is being held in our company for the second time – commented Kseniya Romanyuta, SoftServe’s CSR manager. – All we need to do is to inform colleagues about when the action will take place, and if there is such an opportunity, to organize the procedure of blood donation directly in the office. In such cases, the involvement of colleagues is much higher. We add an extra day off for everyone who became a blood donor, and we also try to take care of our colleagues and reward them with small souvenirs for their engagement.”
As a global company, SoftServe is spreading its social initiatives to other offices. Particularly this year, Donor Day will also take place in Sofia (Bulgaria) and Austin (the USA).
